Java is just another application. You always run both Java 1.3.1 and Java
1.4.2 at the same time.

There are no equivalents in the sense that Java 1.4.2 will run just fine
with absolutely no references in PATH, LIBPATH or elsewhere. A reference
in PATH is convenient if you what to run java.exe without a fully
specified pathname.
To clean up, delete all the references to 1.1, assuming you have deleted
1.1 from your system. Do the same for the references to 1.3.1 and 1.4.2.
