Steven,
Thank you for your help. Here are some specifics:

The network card is the second one of 2 attached to my computer. It goes to another
computer via an already existing Ethernet cable. The other computer is a networked
client behind my ESC computer via an InJoy Firewall on the ECS machine. I do not
have any problems connecting the other computer to the Internet, or connecting to it for
file sharing (via the InJoy Firewall). I tested both after I installed the card. I suspect,
however, that my connection is now slowed down to 10 Mbs (instead of 100 Mbs),
because of the 10Base message during bootup.

Here are more specifics:

NETWORK CARDS:
INTEL PRO 100TX (connects to Internet)
3COM 3C905C-TXM (newly installed by me and connects to the other
computer)

DRIVERS FOR 3COM 3C905C-TXM:
EL90X.OS2

EL90XIO2.NIF

PROTOCOL.INI FILE:
[PROT_MAN]

DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$

[IBMLXCFG]

netbeui_nif = netbeui.nif
tcpip_nif = tcpip.nif
E100BEO2_nif = E100BEO2.NIF
EL90XIO2_nif = EL90XIO2.nif

[NETBIOS]

DriverName = netbios$
ADAPTER0 = netbeui$,0
ADAPTER1 = netbeui$,1

[netbeui_nif]

DriverName = netbeui$
Bindings = FXWRAP_nif,EL90XIO2_nif
ETHERAND_TYPE = "I"
USEADDRREV = "YES"
OS2TRACEMASK = 0x0
SESSIONS = 130
NCBS = 225

SELECTORS = 50
USEMAXDATAGRAM = "NO"
ADAPTRATE = 1000
WINDOWERRORS = 0
MAXDATARCV = 4168
TI = 30000
T1 = 1000
T2 = 200
MAXIN = 1
MAXOUT = 1
NETBIOSTIMEOUT = 500
NETBIOSRETRIES = 3
NAMECACHE = 1000
RNDOPTION = 1
PIGGYBACKACKS = 1
DATAGRAMPACKETS = 50
PACKETS = 300
LOOPPACKETS = 8
PIPELINE = 5
MAXTRANSMITS = 6
MINTRANSMITS = 2
DLCRETRIES = 10
FCPRIORITY = 5
NETFLAGS = 0x0

[tcpip_nif]

DriverName = TCPIP$
Bindings = FXWRAP_nif,EL90XIO2_nif

[E100BEO2_nif]

DriverName = E100B$
SPEED = 0
FORCEDUPLEX = 0
TRANSMITBUFFERS = 20
RECEIVEBUFFERS = 20

[EL90XIO2_nif]

DriverName = EL90X$
MaxTransmits = 40

[FXWRAP_nif]

Drivername = FXWRAP1$
Bindings = E100BEO2_nif

The first network card, the Intel Pro, takes the SPEED = 0 parameter in the
PROTOCOL.INI file. When I tried to use a "SPEED" parameter on the 3COM card, it
rejected it and my system did not load the drivers for that card.
