This is not an OS/2 issue, but I thought it might be of interest.
Some years ago I subscribed to DSL through Pacbell. That was before they
became SBC.
I continued to keep my dial up account with UCSD.EDU. With DSL, I was
always online, and I did not need to change the settings in MR/2. Incoming
mail came through popmail.ucsd.edu, and outgoing mail went to
smtp.ucsd.edu.
Last night my outgoing mail stopped working. It seemed as though ucsd
would no longer accept my email. So I called ucsd to see if there was a
problem with the smtp server, and they said that Pacbell (or SBC) is now
blocking port 25.
So I changed the MR/2 settings to send mail to mail.pacbell.net instead of
smtp.ucsd.edu, and now it is working again.
I am not sure exactly what is going on, but I am glad to have resolved
this.
Sandy
