Hi SCOUGians
After a long silence I come with a question to you:
Would you, at the present time, install eCS 1.2 or
RE-install OS/2 Warp again ???
I had a disastrous HW experience some month ago.
My notebook HDD (Toshiba MK-6023GAX) was making (some farting)
noise and stalled the whole system sometimes.
I prepared for its replacement.
During the preparations on the backup clone from
the malicious to a second HDD DFSee stacked at 11.8%
for many hours ...
... and only C-A-D was able to stop the system !!!
Unfortunately after this:
Both of these both HDD gave a "Boot Record read error" and
DFSee showed some very strange layouts ;-(
I checked with DFSee's Jan van Wjik and got to hear that the
checked HDD seems to be empty ;-((
The HDD went to CBLtech in Singapore for a possible hard-recovery.
Their analysis sounded quite optimistic but after doing hard-recovery
I had to hear that there was nothing recoverable ;-(((
Due this disastrous clone backup (source & target HDD spoilt) ...
... all my data since October 2003 are gone ;-O
Now I have to begin from scratch ;-=A6
My soul tends more to the native and pure OS/2 Warp ...
... but further development and support, even having PA
(Passport Advantage Express) may lead more to eCS !?
Cosmetically I like OS/2 much more than eCS and
I do not like some of its new feature like x/eWPS !?
Would you restart with eCS 1.2 or ...
... would you RE-install OS/2 Warp 4 resp 4.52 ???
I am keen to hear your recommendations and suggestions and ...
... why to do so !
TIA for your appreciated help and kind regards
