I'm a little rusty at this. What I did was:

From the command line, I typed:

copy con ifconfig.cmd

I then typed the line:

ifconfig lan0 172.19.20.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 alias

I then hit the Enter key and typed Control-Z and hit Enter.
I got a file named ifconfig.cmd.

However, when I try to run this file, I get the same line being executed
over and over in an endless loop, and when I type netstat -r, there
appears to be no change.

I think there needs to be a Return command at the end of the line, and
even thought I hit the return key before the Control-Z, it doesn't help.

Is there a way to enter the Enter key into the command file, or am I going
about this all wrong?

Thanks,
Sandy
