Sandy,
I just copied the line you typed in your note (Ctrl+C), and then went
into the Editor (which for me is AE) and pasted the line into the edit
session. It made a second, blank line, which I deleted. Then I saved
and executed. It showed the ifconfig command and then a command prompt.

(I wouldn't have thought to create the file the way you described,
probably because I came from a mainframe environment, where I was used
to creating file using an editor.)

So it should be easy enough to "fix" your command file.

Note that in C:\MPTN\BIN (on my system anyway), there is an ifconfig.exe
(which of course there would need to be, so that your command file would
execute).

If you name your command file IFCONFIG.CMD, you'll need to be careful to
distinguish between the .EXE and the .CMD files. You might want to use
a slightly different name for the .CMD file.
Colin
