OK, I think that's a common problem on ECS. I have version 1.14 and when I first
installed it, I also had to REM the APM-related drivers (BTW, I think you were supposed
to REM out the APM.SYS driver and the line for the APMDAEMN.EXE executable; I
don't think you REM out the VAPM.SYS driver, which strictly concerns the DOS
setup. But, of course, I'm not sure about this). The ECS installation documentation talks
about this problem and how to work around it.
I tried several APM-related drivers and had to wait several months before I found one
that worked. I not sure exactly where I got it. This is the one I use:
