Colin,

I changed the thread's topic. My new system is a new MB , CPU
and PS for my old system. The new stuff is a Tyan Tomcat K8E
with AMD 64 3200+, 1GB RAM and and old drives, CDs, etc.

eCS 1.2R and 2.0 beta1 have a kernel that tolerates if not
exactly supports the AMD64. I had a great deal of trouble
getting eCS to run or reinstall until I reduced the DRAM
timing on the new MB. It all seems pretty stable now including
eCS 2.0 running on a JFS volume.

It has been three years since I got a new MB, so what is new
to me may be old to many of you. I was pleased with the new
Award-Phoenix BIOS that has great flexibility in setting up
boot devices. I like the function that allows you to interrupt
the boot process to choose what device to boot from (HD, CD,
SCSI, Floppy, others?) depending on how you have set them up.

The BIOS itself displays the term Workstation. Maybe this
industrial strength motherboard is too much for this enduser!

Martin
