I finally solved the conflict between the fat32.ifs driver and the sound
on my Thinkpad T 42.
To make a long story short, I uninstalled the SNAP video drivers and the
sound returned. I still have video, but I haven't yet figured out where it
is coming from (I was going to install drivers I got from IBM web site,
but so far they don't seem to be needed).
I still have the same screen resolution as before but now I have both
sound and fat32 access.
