Firefox V 1.5. 
 
Started it with -Profilemanager, created a new profile. Started with  that profile. Same Story.
 Wiped the directory tree & re-installed. New profile. It starts and
 downloads mail, so I'm typing this message using the new installation.
 Now to see if it sends.
