Define obsolete.  Is there something you cannot do?  
 
One video gotcha I had:  I got an MSI AMD 64 with video card and   
memory as a set from Fry's.  I couldn't get it to POST.  I took it to   
their service area and they told me my video and memory were not good   
enough to operate the MB.  No apology from them for selling me junk.   
I bought their recommended video and memory, played with it for a few   
days, and took the MB back.
