Subject: SCOUG-Help: W4 Copies boot choked

Content Type: text/plain

I have recently done a fresh W4 UPDTCD. I did the first install to a
small HDD and it appears to be fine. I have a copy of that installation
on a work machine and it is OK.

However, I have had a problem with several other copy attempts. They
seem to boot OK, but the activity monitor is at max. After the monitor
appears, and before the system settles, the monitor momentarily goes to
zero a few times. With the monitor at max there is very limited access
to the desktop. Any suggestions on a probable cause or even a
reasonable way to search for the problem.

There is one other bit of strangeness. Start File and Print Client is
in the start up folder. On both the functioning machine and the problem
one, when the window opens the first line is: Can't load JPOS2DLL - no
dot before DLL. I don't recall ever seeing this before. I did a search
for jpos2*.* on the install CD and several W4 and eCS installations and
found nothing. Networking seems OK on the functioning machine.

Ideas?

Ray
