That could be bad news for me down the line. On the
Shuttle, I do my whole HDD cloning backups by
temporarily disconnecting the optical drive (on the
2nd. HDD controller), and connecting the other HDD
there. After this procedure, the optical drive gets
reconnected. (Per what Ray has reported, this is
tremendously faster than doing a cloning over USB.)
But I don't want to mess up either the Shuttle
connectors or the connections at the drives that are
being connected . . . even though I try to do the
connecting / disconnecting as carefully as possible.
Is this a valid concern ? Would it be better to use
USB, and just go out for several hours ?
This leads me to wonder about the connctions on / with
the swappable HDD trays. You do this a lot, Ray.
Ever bend or break any pins, or wear out connection
integrity at either end ? I'm still thinking of going
all-tray on my next tower rebuild -- maybe even for
the optical drives, if that is possible.
