I would like to revisit an old problem. Most of the time it takes my
system very long (30-45 sec or more) to connect or change to pages at
most sites, including popular ones such as Yahoo and Ebay. It is almost
like when I had a dial-up connection. This just happened and I
immediately did a Speakeasy Speed Test with these results to their
server in Los Angeles:
Down: 5857 kbps
Up: 358 kbps
I am running Thunderbird and connect by way of cable through Time
Warner. A few days ago a TM tech told me that my connections through
their network were fine, and that any speed problem was beyond their
reach. Do any of you experience a similar problem? Can anyone speculate
on the cause? Is it possible that the Internet is so busy that I get
these slow speeds?
Martin
