Subject: SCOUG-Help: Genmac and SNAP?

The beginning of this may be boring for most.. (you've been warned), but
it's a followup to Steven on the issues that came up with my hardware
change.

- unimiant is now on boot partitions - what a simple, but great idea. -
backup done

- Higher res testing with SNAP- tested 3 additional resolutions:

1024x768
1280x960
1280x1024

All worked.

Audio installed - didn't work - later found to be user error - I had
turned off audio in the BIOS when I began having problems getting to my
desktop. Also, ran into issues with 30 character path size limit.
Interestingly, attempted install of audio also changed video resolution
from 1280x960 to 1024x768.

At this point, I proceeded to install network drivers - unsuccessfully
(more in a moment). I upgraded to latest GenMac, and tried install.
Still no success. I believe that I've narrowed down the problem to some
sort of interaction apparent only when network drivers and SNAP (ATI X800)
or GenGRADD (nForce 4) are used:

VGA and network - fine

GenGradd and network - only works when genGRADD installed from /SNAP/disk
with "setup GEN", otherwise hangs shortly after color on desktop shows.
However, with this method, color is way off (I have a PMVIEW screen grab
if interested), and difficult to use.

SNAP and network - hangs up during pmshell.exe loading.

I've tried installing network drivers and SNAP in different orders, with
only minor differences.
