I'm also interested in getting a new main board, for a
complete overhaul of my tower system. It would be for
an AMD x2 dual core, probably socket 939, probably
4400+ or faster, preferably Asus or MSI. Funny, but I
was hoping I could head in sort of the *opposite*
direction. (Although I realize these goals could be
contradictory, and therefore not possible.) Why ? I
have a good -- at least 8x -- AGP video card with 256M
of memory on board. I'm no gamer, this should be more
than adequate for my needs, and I paid good money for
the card but never got to use it. Also, I want more
than the two old-style PCI expansion slots, and that
seems to be the max you can find these days. I've
always preferred to choose my own components, rather
than be stuck with whatever they built into the board.

I don't care if it's a 2 year old model. I've bought
and sold extra unused or barely used MBs, CPUs, etc.
on Ebay, without problems. In fact, an older model
might be more suitable: OUR driver support is often
not exactly up-to-the-minute, and -- on the Dark Side
I have no plans to mess with Vista.

If anyone can call some MB models like this to my
attention, I'd appreciate it.

Harry, I'll need to double check the specs on this,
but my 2 - 3 year old Shuttle XPC definitely qualifies
as to Question 2, and *may* qualify as to Question 1.
I have some record of the MB chipsets involved here,
but will need to look them up.

This seems to be a variant of Question 1. I am using
the SciTech driver for this video chip in the Shuttle,
but I don't know about digital output. (My tower has
an old dual-head Matrox card in it, though I don't
recall ever using the other head, which I think was
digital.) I have on many occasions hooked the Shuttle
up to LCD panel displays, but I believe they all had
analog connections (?)
