I was recently reminded that for a long time I've
wanted to have a file with a list of error codes
returned by ZTree. The ones I recall seeing most
often were "Archiver Returned Error ___." O.K., that
might not be an error from ZTree proper, but from PK
or one of the other archiving programs it launches . .
. but my original proposition stands, for other
reasons.
I am still adjusting a number of partitions from a
recent HDD migration. Just now, I tried to copy a
couple of .HTM files to D:, a FAT-16 partition for DOS
app.s and reference files. They would not copy -- I
got an "Error 276" from ZTree. So, thinking this
might be some DOS error, I did a Google search, and
instead found this:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iadthelp/v6r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.etools.iseries.orxw.doc/orxw_ref772.htm
The error in question shows up there as:
Explanation: The extended attribute table file is
full.
My first thought was that the place I was trying to
copy to was 4 or 5 sub-dir levels down, and maybe that
was the cause of the problem ? But now I don't think
so. There *is* an EA.Data file on D:, just like there
is on nearly all of the partitions OS/2 can write to,
*even though* it is entirely irrelevant and unneeded
for certain partitions, probably including this one.
If this "Error 276" is in fact generated by OS/2, I'm
wondering if the EA file on these migrated partitions
might have gotten corrupted ? If that is the case,
why can I copy a test file (plain text) to some
*other* locations on D:, using ZTree ?
I would like to be able to fix this. UNIMAINT ? How
?
