This a typical indication that there's something non-standard or wrong
with the partition tables or the existing lvm data. IBM's tools tend to
err on the side of caution and suppress disk updates. Often you can find
a clue in the lvm logs, but they are often difficult for an end-user to
read.

What does PM know about the validity of lvm data or its existance for that
matter?
