www.litepc.com might really be worth a visit.

They have

"IEradicator, a tiny (~25K), FREE [emphasis mine]
utility to strip IE 4 & 5 from unmodified Win98/SE/ME
installations without requiring any additional files."

I chose to create a new win98 time zone which I named
"(GMT -8:00) Pacific Time 2007+ (US & Canada)" and
adjusted the parameters accordingly. I found some
"how-to" pointers with a Google search on the subject.
[As Steven is fond of pointing out, Google is your
(my) friend.] There was a long DST discussion on
this list recently that piqued my interest.

Although I could easily reset DST manually (I just love TIME868!)
I stepped up to the (admittedly small) challenge of fixing
it automatically. We'll have to see if/how it works tonight
on the wife's W98 machine. Learn something new every day....

I, too, prefer third-party file managers. ZTREE Bold works
well on the OS/2 side and there is a Win version as well,
so I don't have to retrain my fingers when switching.
The cost is nominal and I prefer to support vendors that make
OS/2 versions as well. To this end I also use Norman AV
(but NOT norTon).
