That is my concern; that if we used anything outside of the Mozilla
family the result would likely no longer be a mail file. I have seen
mail files that had messages that could be read with a text editor but
some did not show in the mail client.

If you turn off threading and sort by date the dupes will usually jump
out at you.

And a small side issue; if you let a file collect a few thousand
messages, it may choke if you try to delete them all. Choke; work very
slow or even freeze.
