On the web, content is king. Far more important than glitzy graphics, content makes people come back again and again.

Let's see how this month's chosen web sites measure up:

Ratings
Info
Content Links Glitz Type Site (url) and Comments
A+ A   A   Notebooks Notebook/2 -- The OS/2 Notebook Site (http://www.os2ss.com/users/DrMartinus/Notebook.htm).  A notebook computer that runs OS/2?  There's more info here than feathers on a duck.
A   B- B+ OS/2-Linux OS/2 and Linux in Focus (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Heights/4301/).  Do not miss this site.  Programmers:  do not miss the Programming Information page.
A   B+ B   OS/2 UFO's OS/2 Warp Information Resources (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Haven/4537/).  Some excellent tutorials with some very useful tricks here.
B   F   B- Finance Electronic Teller (http://www.travel-net.com/~phcaron/).  The screen shots show a slick interface (and great graphs) for this inexpensive home accounting package.
A- C- D+ HTML W3C HTML Validation Service (http://validator.w3.org/).  Now, this thing isn't perfect.  But if you write HTML code, it will catch a lot of your errors.
A   C   B   Prolog Visual Prolog (http://www.visual-prolog.com/) or Visual Prolog (http://www.pdc.dk/vip/).  The language of Artificial Intelligence runs quite happily on OS/2.  Start with the freeware version.
A+ B+ B   Programming Dennis Bareis, OS/2 (http://www.labyrinth.net.au/~dbareis/index.htm).  We gave this guy a good quack in June '98, but he's got a new url and the free software and source code make it a good site.
A   F   C   Search FTP Search (http://ftpsearch.lycos.com/).  When all you want is a file . . .
B   F   C- Word Word2x for OS/2 -- The MS-Word Converter (http://www.d3.net/joerg/word2x.html).  "Converts" MS-Word 6.0 and later.  Freeware.
B+ C   B- Utilities Welcome (http://members.tripod.com/~Goran_Ivankovic/).  Goran Ivankovic's free OS/2 utilities.

This month's Duck Feather

So your computer clock won't run on time?  The Duck was ecstatic when he learned of OS2_NTPD (go to http://ftpsearch.lycos.com/ and search on "os2ntp12").  It's an OS/2 utility that runs quietly in the background, watches the online "time servers" whenever you're signed on, and slowly adjusts that blasted clock so it never waddles astray.

No sudden time jumps or reverse ticks, just smooth clocking (see the README for the rather advanced methodology).  And OS2_NTPD memorizes the required correction and keeps on tickin' even when you're off the 'net.
