Sundial Systems pounded their OS/2 muscle on the showroom floor with
demonstrations of the latest Mesa 2 spreadsheet release.
The new Mesa 2 version has plenty of added features, and the one I rate as the
most spectacular is the new 3-D graphics capabilities which includes the
ability to rotate a 3-D graph in real time so you can watch it spin on the
screen.
Sundial also had Relish, Clearlook and DBExpert available for
demonstrations.
Relish is their must-have do-everything personal time organizer, Clearlook is
their very-speedy word processor, and DBExpert is their database offering.
Relish comes in two versions --- the Relish single-user version, and
RelishNet which updates files across a network.
There's also RelishWeb which creates HTML files for browser access to
your Relish information.
I've owned Relish for several years and I must say I've always
been extremely happy with it.
Sundial knows how to write good software.
And I picked up RelishWeb at last year's Warpstock and, believe me,
it's perfect for sticking Relish schedules, phone books and the like
into web pages or onto a floppy that you can then view on any machine with a
browser (the files are HTML).
I like Clearlook because it's fast.
When I'm writing columns I don't want to wait a few seconds while
some unneeded routine loads; I want to get my thoughts written down
pronto.
Clearlook beats the other word processors I've got.
And I've always been intrigued with DBExpert because it supports a lot
of different database formats.
There's no need to convert your existing database, you just continue to
use it as-is with DBExpert as the front-end engine.
Plus, DBExpert is relational.
Further, Sundial has widened its product line with the addition of Rover,
developed by Orange Hill Software.
Rover has some very neat add-on features for your desktop, and the Sundial
release of Rover is scheduled for November.
Sundial is very generous with their demo copies.
