O.K., Steven --
I've tried the spooler and LJ-4 priority settings set very low, and
cranked 'em up very high. It does not seem to make much difference in
the results, at least in the Warp 4 partition. (Haven't had a chance
to mess with this under eCS.) When the print job gets sent, the
Printer Status box comes up but does not leave; it just hangs there.
The "waiting" clock icon replaces the cursor. Anything else on the
system -- which would of course have to be accessed via mouse or
keyboard combo -- is placed on hold until the last page is about ready
to come out. Occasionally, I can do one discrete action (say, access
a menu, maybe even click on one of its items) if I do it immediately,
but then the freeze comes in right thereafter. If I press the matter
by trying to switch to another program / window, there will be a
warning sound (event) and the Task List window will open and stay that
way, frozen, until printing has finished.
This is at FP-9, which I've remained at for years, though I'm fairly
certain this situation was not always the case. Nearly all of these
print jobs are being run in NS 4.61, but I believe the behavior holds
true for any other OS/2 printing application.
Ideas ?
Jordan
