Yes, use PM v5 as you would normally.  Use ptedit or dfsee to change the  
extended partition type back to 05 if PM changes it to 0F.

PM does not preserve the LVM data.  That's why you can't boot.  
 
As long as you only have compatibility volumes, just recreate them.  Don't  
delete the volume, hide it from OS/2.  This will get rid of the drive  
letter, but leave the data as is.  Then go through the procedure to create  
a volume using and existing partition.  When you save and exit, the LVM  
data will be rewritten and you should be able to boot.
