Here are some more motherboard bios settings that may have a bearing on my
scsi and/or modem problem:

PNP/PCI Configuration section

PNP OS installed no
Reset configuration data disabled <<< * see note below
Resources controlled by auto:escd <<< ** see note below
PCI/VGA palette snoop enabled
Assign IRQ for VGA enabled <<< btw, I have a Matrox card
Assign IRQ for USB enabled <<< there are 2 USB ports on my
machine

* Default is "disabled". Select enabled to reset escd when you exit Setup if
you have installed a new add-on and the system reconfiguration has caused a
serious conflict so that the OS cannot boot.

** Bios can automatically configure all the boot and plug & play compatible
devices. If you choose auto you cannot select IRQ, DMA, and memory base
address fields, since bios automatically assigns them.

Should I change the "Reset configuration data" parm to "enabled"?

Some other bios settings were listed in my previous post, and the full PCI
sniffer results were attached to one of my prior posts yesterday... btw, the
ethernet NIC, the Matrox card, and the modem (and apparently some others as
well) all show IRQ 11 on that listing; dunno if that's a problem or not.
Here are the last few lines of that PCI sniffer listing:

"ROM PCI IRQ routing table Windows 9x Compatibility Tests....
ROM IRQ routing table found at F000h:DEB0h
Table Version 1.0 - OK
Table size 176 bytes - OK
Table Checksum 49h - OK
IRQ's dedicated to PCI : 5,11
The ROM PCI IRQ routing table appears to be OK.

IRQ Summary: IRQs 5,11,14,15 are used by PCI devices
Shared IRQs: IRQ 5 is shared by 4 PCI Devices
IRQ 11 is shared by 6 PCI Devices"

All suggestions appreciated.

Wayne
