Occasionally, I have Internet disconnects (perhaps about 4 to 10 per year). I have DSL
from SBC. I when I discover that I have no Internet service (usually at computer boot up),
I immediately turn off the modem and router. I turn them both back on in a couple of
minutes. That procedure usually solves the problem. When I does not I contact SBC.
On every occasion that I contacted SBC the outage was somewhere in their operation
and they knew about it.
I learned the above procedure after suffering a couple of outages, when I first got the
service. Those first couple of times I immediately contacted SBC. Their procedure was
to advise me to shut down and restart the modem. I guess the modem and/or router can
hiccup and lose connection.
