I think that will work but I have not tried to install Linux.
This is how I configured my laptop.
1. XP - primary C
2 BM
3 eCS - primary C
the following are in a extended partition
4 eCS maintenance - D
5 JFS - F
6 FAT32 - accessible from both XP and eCS as drive G
