"2x 1MB" means that there is a 1 MB cache for EACH of the processors. On the
theory that more L2 cache is better, I would choose 2x 1MB over 2x 512 (KB).

SMP support is included in eCS 2.0. It required an extra purchase for eCS 1.x.

Dunno here. It might be related to general woes related to ACPI which, I
believe, is a prerequisite for SMP. There are a number of switches for ACPI.PSD
which I do not yet understand. ACPI is a moving target which I have not yet
chosen to shoot at, although I do have one SMP capable system. I have had other
issues to deal with that are of higher priority. :-(
