I installed from a download, not the SCOUG CD, but here's what I
remember:
- Pick "Advanced Path" so you can specify the target drive for the
install.
- Installing either the runtime or the development kit brings up the
same selection windows, with the appropriate sections checkable and the
rest grayed out. This is _very_ confusing; it looks like something's
wrong with the installer.
Two questions: Are you trying to install the runtime, or the
development kit? And are you using an "Advanced Path" install?

The Java 1.1.7 that I have is dated November 1998, and the latest fixpak
for it is dated March 1999.
The Fixes are downloadable from:
ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/software/java/fixes/os2/11/117/
Get all four files in that directory.
Here's the before-and-after-fixes Java version info:
[G:\]java -fullversion
JAVA.EXE full version "JDK 1.1.7A IBM build o117-19981120 (JIT
enabled: javax)"
...(fixes applied here)
[G:\]java -fullversion
JAVA.EXE full version "JDK 1.1.7A IBM build o117-19990331 (JIT
enabled: javax)"
